What is holiness
I Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Holiness is total abstainence from evil and anything that appears like it even if you think it is not evil. Holiness is keeping you spirit soul and body blameless before the Lord
Many Christians are deceived today to think holiness is about the mind and not the body. This bible verse says spirit soul and body. Romans12:1-2 also talked about both spirit and body
to be kept holy without comformity to this world.Obedient Children of God would be happy to keep themselves holy for the Lord and avoid the wrath of God.
Holiness is required to enter heaven and the scripture above shows that your whole spirit, soul and body must be preserved blameles.
Blameless means free of guilt; not subject to blame; "of irreproachable character"; "an unimpeachable reputation". Let us see these 3 aspects of the holiness as described in the bible.
1. Whole Spirit
Many christians have no problem agreeing that they must have pure spirit to make it to heaven and because no man can see what is in their spirit they
deceive others that they are pure. However, many christians have defiled their spirit and are far from holiness. Many use their spirit for all forms of
evil imaginations and sins. Your spirit must be free from all wicked spirit such as immorality, lying, arrogancy, pride, rebellion, worldliness,
and all the works of the flesh. Instead your spirit must be full of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 32:2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2. Whole Soul
Your soul will go back to God when you die. It is your eternal treasure that you must surrender to Jesus for supernatural cleansing through His blood.
All the sinful activities of your spirit and body will be reflected in your soul, so that what you do in the body or spirit can defile your soul. Therefore, you need to preserve
your soul blameless first through the blood of Jesus Christ and secondly through holiness and righteousness. Your soul must be converted to God through the word of God
Psalm 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
Deuteronomy 30:6 And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
3. Whole Body
This is the most difficult part for modern christians as many of them have been deceived by charismatic preachers that God is less concern about your body.
However, the Bible says God is concern about your body as much as he is concerned about your spirit and soul. It is true that many christians use various
argument to want to escape keeping their body blameless by interpreting the scriptures as it pleases them. Many christians defile their own bodies forgetting the
warning of the Lord that he will detsroy those who defile his temple. Stop defiling God's temple with jewelries, tatoos, worldliness and sins, it is dangerous
because you would not be able to stand the wrath of God
when it comes to you.
BE NOT DECEIVED, YOUR BODY DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU BUT TO JESUS WHO BOUGHT IT BACK WITH HIS OWN BLOOD
1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Romans12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
